Western Province VS Sharks Currie Cup Rugby Match
Cape Town’s boys go toe-to-toe with KwaZulu-Natal’s guys in black and white
Top-of-the-log leaders Western Province (WP) lock heads with the third-place Sharks in their next ABSA Currie Cup home game on Saturday, 11 October at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town in a bid to maintain their first place ranking. The WP rugby match kick-off is at 5:05pm (see full 2014 Currie Cup fixtures).
Over the last month, the ouens in blue and white have been on a positive streak, winning 7 out of 8 games played in the Currie Cup and dominating opponents throughout their almost undefeated season. Recently, they conquered Mpumalanga’s Steval Pumas on their home turf with a 37-23 win, and before that they secured a 36-12 victory over the Nothern Cape GWK Griquas.
As front-runners, Western Province have a total of nine points between them and the third-place Sharks, who have had a less successful Currie Cup, with wins and losses all over the scoreboard. In short, it’s a no-brainer that the Sharks will have to bring their A-game if they plan on overcoming our Cape Town squad and having a chance at winning the coveted ABSA Currie Cup trophy.
