Sunset Moon Drives at Matroosberg Nature Reserve
Don't miss these beautifully different drives through nature in Ceres
The Matroosberg Private Nature Reserve is situated on the farm Erfdeel, 35 km from Ceres, South Africa. The reserve covers more than 1 000 ha of mountain area, and reaches the Matroosberg Peak, which, at an altitude of 2 249 metres, is the highest in the Boland. The Matroosberg Peak is about 250m higher than Sneeuberg in the Cedarberg.
Romantic Sunset Safari Moon Drive:
Before sunset drive with an open-top Bedford truck towards the summit of the Matroosberg peak (highest in the Boland) and see the sun set over the spectacular Groothoek Kloof canyon and enjoy a romantic picnic and sundowners. After the full moon has risen (after 7pm) drive downhill in the moonlight. Please book in advance. Contact the reserve direct for info on cost of romantic safari and picnic.
4x4 Moon Drive:
Before sunset drive up the Matroosberg 4x4 route and at the spectacular Groothoek Kloof canyon, enjoy your own sundowners and picnic. After the full moon has risen (after 7pm) drive downhill in the moonlight. Picnic baskets available on request. 4x4 Route Permit: R250 per 4x4 vehicle.
Quad Bike Moon Drive:
Depart after 8 pm on a group quad bike drive and end off the evening at the rock pools with a picnic under the full moon. Quads for hire at R150 p/quad (limited no. available). Drive with own quad at R100 p/quad. Picnic Baskets available on request.
