A Whale of a Heritage
A mix of cultural and natural history topics
All children aged 5 to 12 are invited to join A Whale Of A Heritage Route during the December | January holidays for a fun filled educational programme in either Muizenberg, Kalk Bay, Fish Hoek or Simon’s Town.
Learn more about whales and dolphins, listen out for Fish Hoek and Simon’s Town’s ghosts, check out Stone Age Man’s cave and skull in Fish Hoek, watch and interpret what happens in a fishing harbour, visit an old hotel and see if you can spot an old barn and a gable during a historical hunt, and finish off by building a sandcastle in the form of a whale tail.
Starting on 13 December 2010 and continuing until the last Friday before school starts, there will be a generic programme from Monday to Friday (except 27 Dec) that will take place at various venues, depending on the bookings and requirement.
There will also be a Historic Station Trail every Sunday from 12 December until the last Sunday before school starts.
