Celebrating Dutch Queensday in Cape Town
Go Orange or go home…
Queensday on 30th April is a public holiday in the Netherlands, which honours Queen Juliana’s birthday and is a great excuse for all the ‘dutchies’ (and capetonians if you so wish) to party up a storm in Cape Town.
The Dutch take this party so seriously that it even takes on New Years, dressing up in sexy orange from head to toe and drinking Heineken until sunrise.
Queen Beatrix - whose birthday is on 31 January – is the daughter of the late Queen Juliana, who now celebrates her own birthday on 30 April, which is her mother’s birthday.
Don’t worry if it doesn’t make sense, just have another beer.
So get oranged up, get your ice cold Heineken and snack on some Bitterballen and celebrate this annual Queen’s Day in Cape Town. Festivities will take place in Tommy’s Sports Bar and Rafiki’s, we will let you know the details as soon as we are in the know.
