The Africycle Tour will kick off the 1st of October 2006, for a seven-day race through South Africa's Mpumalanga province. It is one of the most exhilarating cycle events in South Africa and on the African Continent.
What makes the Africycle Tour unique is that the race itself is accessible to all levels of amateur cycling enthusiasts, for both local and international cyclists. A second unique aspect is the route is specially designed to embrace the fascinating landscape of the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. The Africycle Tour takes riders through the Blyde River Canyon, the Witrivier area, bordering the fertile Crocodile River valley and ends at the Kruger National Park.
Stages range from 90 to 150km per day and include relatively flat sections, rolling hills and climbs, totaling a race distance of approximately 700km.
Unlike any other cycling races, this cycling event combines road cycling with safety, community development, nature conservation and showcases the stunning natural environment, while offering cyclists a rare and memorable opportunity to connect, compete and conserve.
Riders are invited to enter as two-rider teams or as a corporate four-rider team (entries are limited to 1000 riders).
