Launch a torpedo, escape from prison, break a curse, find lost jewels or uncover the truth behind Mr O’s mysterious disappearance. Whether you’re a wannabe sleuth, logical thinker or creative genius, you’ll enjoy the thrill of unlocking one clue after another to solve HintHunt’s Escape Rooms.
These rooms put you in situations that allow you to fully immerse yourself in the challenge at hand. Image: HintHunt
You’ll be locked inside a themed room (2 to 6 players) with only 60 minutes to escape. Each room has a gamemaster, who sends hints throughout the game in case your team gets stuck. No phones are allowed in the rooms. What you need are your friends or colleagues, your smarts, great team collaboration and a competitive spirit.
The bigger your team, the less you pay per person. Image: HintHunt
One of the newest rooms, Escape Plan, is based on the popular series Prison Break. It goes like this: You and your mates are in prison. You can escape, but there’s only a small window of opportunity – if you can find the plan in time.
You’ll need to get into the mind of a criminal and think creatively: How do you make a wrench in prison, would you eat cookies you find in the warden’s office, how do you communicate if you can’t see each other? Find the stashed phone and search for secret crawl spaces as you step into Mike and Lincoln’s shoes.
Solve all the clues before the minutes tally up to 60. Image: HintHunt
If you’re curious and love a juicy story, try The Old Hotel, where you get to uncover the truth about the disappearance of Mr. O, a once-famous author, who was last seen at this neglected hotel.
Search for clues – could be an old phone or typewriter – and note the bed. The goal of this escape room is simple: Find out the truth of the mysterious Mr O’s disappearance or perish with the old hotel.
Tip: Look over, under, in and through everything. Image: HintHunt
Step into a submarine, there’s even a periscope, complete with dark grey walls. Torpedo really feels like you’re in a scene from Mission Impossible.
In the game you have to decipher numbers and morse code, unlock the control room, locate the threat, and launch the torpedo before the enemy strikes. Here, patience, communication and basic math and geography are your best friends. Torpedo is perhaps the most challenging escape room.
This escape room is all about trial and error. Image: HintHunt
There’s two more escape rooms, Shipwrecked and the Cursed Treasure. In Shipwrecked, you need to recover the royal family’s sacred pearls from Captain Kalman’s lost ship before the storm hits and sinks you and the ship forever. Don't ignore the skeletons and the messages of warning scrawled across the cabin's walls.
Lean on every team member, from the idle intern to the company’s CEO. Image: HintHunt
When taking on The Cursed Treasure your team needs to overcome protective voodoo magic and ancient spells in order to recover the lost treasure, break the curse and escape or spend the rest of your days trapped in a sunken ship. Head's up: the cabin you're trapped in is not what it seems.
The Cursed Treasure is said to be one of the most difficult rooms. Image: HintHunt
Cape Town is your oyster in HintHunt’s Amazing Race experience, which can accommodate from 4 to 100 players. Speed through the V&A Waterfront and its iconic landmarks and be the first team to complete all the tasks and challenges. You can also book outdoor, online and mobile escape games at HintHint: They work wonders for teams, families or friends who don't work or live in the same city, and teams who work remotely and need to connect in a fun, thrilling way.
HintHunt is versatile; play escape-room games in person, online or outdoors. Image: HintHunt
