Tokara Wine Made Art Exhibition
Celebrate Africa is the theme of Tokara winery’s fifth annual Wine Made Art series
Wine Made Art was launched by the Stellenbosch winery in 2006 to encourage new and creative methods of incorporating wine experience in art – the artists use the wine as a medium and find diverse ways to interpret the given themes.
The 2010 series features works by Hilde Malan, Jane-Lee Gouws, Katherine de Villiers and Aphelele Sikwebu – students from the Fine Arts Division of the Visual Arts Department at the University of Stellenbosch. The public can view the works at TOKARA where they will be exhibited until the end of January 2011.
Hilde Malan interpreted the Celebrate Africa theme by considering the rich diversity of South African plants.
Gouws’ works for TOKARA Wine Made Art 2010 celebrate Africa by looking at the type of body language, gestures, facial expressions and laughter that speak of Africa as a joyous place.
Katherine de Villiers’ project integrates the women of South Africa with poetry and the fine art of wine making.
Aphelele Sikwebu interpreted the theme by focusing on the concepts of love and joy.
Times: 09:00 – 17:00 Monday – Friday | 10:00 – 15:00 Saturdays & Sundays
