Valentine’s Day Dinner at Dornier Bodega Winery Restaurant
Indulge in a four-course meal amidst this Stellenbosch eatery’s romantic setting
Ditch the love potion number nine this Valentine’s Day in Cape Town and rather enchant your better half with a dose of Dornier Bodega’s pastoral charm. With its dramatic views, rich history and old-fashioned architecture, the Stellenbosch wine estate restaurant could very well pass as an aphrodisiac; though on Friday, 14 February 2014, couples looking to get the good vibes flowing would do far better tucking into Chef Neil Norman’s four-course menu.
Housed in an 18th century Cape Dutch-style barn that peers out on to hulking mountains and sprawling vineyards, the eatery has developed somewhat of a reputation for infusing traditional fare with twists of creativity. More specifically, the kitchen team prides itself on dishing up simple peasant cuisine masked in modern garb, and thus the farm-style nosh often appears familiar yet entirely unique to diners.
The Valentine’s Day set menu follows suit, and both young starry-eyed duos and old married partners can look forward to ocean-fresh shellfish, juicy cuts of meat and sharing platters that breed romance.
And if lovers really want to elevate the experience to cloud nine, they can choose to add a wine pairing option to their meal – this treats visitors to a glass of red, white or Méthode Cap Classique with each course.
