The Observatory Festival of Arts
The Observatory Festival of Arts is set to entertain all this year…
Focusing on Arts and Culture, The Obs Festival of Arts takes place from 3rd to 5th December 2010 and promises to be an Art festival like no other.
The Observatory area - historically associated with activism, multi-cultural interaction and social change - now hosts one of the most diverse residential communities of artists and thinkers in South Africa. In celebration of this unique community Observatory proudly hosts the annual Observatory Festival of Arts.
One of the core objectives of the festival is to promote insight, dialogue and interaction between artists as well as with the audience by creating multiple areas throughout the festival.
2010’s Festival promises an access controlled environment in which to roam the streets on foot and browse a vast festival market.
The dedicated festival teams are committed to making this the best Observatory festival yet. Road closures, SAPS, Metro and OBSID security will be ensuring patrons have a safe and enjoyable experience.
Music will be ever present, with indoor venues and outdoor stages showcasing a variety of genres from Indian to African and beyond.
A journey through Lower Main road and the Village Green will radiate arts, crafts, music, history, food, drink and dance. A dedicated kids’ zone will guarantee entertainment with surprises in store.
This festival promises to be a bona fide mix of Observatory’s creativity and history – a platform for years to come.
The festival will commence at 17:00 on Friday and Saturday, and end at 22:30. Sunday the festival will start at 10:00 and end at 20:00.
