Take a Tartarus Cave Hike!
If you enjoy hiking in Cape Town, you cannot miss this extra-special hike!
This walk is a must between September and December, even if you don’t like caves. Expect to be overwhelmed by the variety of plants, trees, colours and scenery on this hike.
The route up Mimetes Valley during spring and summer time is ablaze in a symphony of colour.
And let’s not forget the amazing 50-metre long Tartarus Cave just waiting to be explored. You will be welcomed by its horizontal entrance which slopes down into a large chamber.
From here you’ll follow a narrow passage with eventually drops into the main chasm – the awesome pit after which the cave was named.
On this hike you will see a bit of everything, like rare and beautiful flowers as well as whales frolicking in the bay below.
