Rooibos Day in Clanwilliam
Join the world record attempt at this family-friendly tea festival.
Clanwilliam, the small Western Cape town that has become the capital of Rooibos, will play host to the first ever Rooibos Day on Monday, 16 January 2017, at Augsburg Landbougimnasium. The locally produced tea has become a staple in many households around the country, and indeed the world, and the organisers at Rooibosteahouse will be celebrating the proudly South African product and its many uses (besides as a comforting drink).
This free family-friendly gathering will showcase over 100 Rooibos products, from health and beauty treatments to tasty treats that you can prepare in your own kitchen. During Rooibos Day, a world record attempt will be made for the largest group of people to drink a cup of Rooibos tea at the same time and same place, so obviously numbers are key. Grab your friends and family and head out to the quaint town to be part of the historic event.
“We are very excited to celebrate the first Rooibos Day,” says Sanet Stander, co-owner of the Rooibosteahouse in Clanwilliam and co-founder of the Rooibos Route. “The world has been benefitting from the wonder-plant that Rooibos is for centuries. It’s about time that all Rooibos lovers in South Africa celebrate this unique product, and therefore a National Rooibos Day.”
