It’s 1934 and following the Stock Market crash of ’29, the Great Depression has descended on the world’s economies like an all-pervading noose around a neck. In the Netherlands this has led to political instability and the demise of traditional forms of industry.

Everyone’s aware that it’s adapt or…die.

With this sobering thought in mind, a group of enterprising Dutch citizens escaped their faltering motherland for the famed beauty and burgeoning opportunities of Cape Town, with a view of opening a less than respectable business. They called it The House of Burlesque.

For more than two years now, the place has offered a respite from reality to countless men and women who want nothing more than to lose themselves to the sweaty, sexy, intriguing lure of Burlesque. But just last week something unthinkable happened. Something that is threatening to shut down this den of illicit pleasures for good. Fifi Fatale - the jewel in the cap of the House of Burlesque - was brutally murdered!
