Oktoberfest at Paulaner Brauhaus 2011
Time to put on you beer goggles for the annual Oktoberfest this October
Originating from in 1810 when Munich citizens celebrated the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princes Therese this annual festival now claims to be the largest in the world attracting over 6 million people each year.
In keeping in tradition Paulaner’s brew master, Wolfgang Kodel, will unveil his beer specially brewed for the Cape Town Oktoberfest 2011. If ample beer isn’t enough to get you festive there will also be ‘Umpah’ and contemporary bands playing nightly throughout October and November during this German beer festival.
Expect traditional German cuisine to compliment the beer such as; crispy pork Knuckle, Pretzel and Bratwurst.
All Paulaner beers offered in the brew house are brewed on site in unadulterated form according to the "Rheinheitsgebot" (German purity law) of 1516. Whether light or dark: all Paulaner beers are always tapped fresh and with lots of fizz.
Enjoy fine brews and peer over Clock Tower Precinct of the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront – which as a point of interest – is the only brewery with a storage cellar that is below sea level. Just don’t enjoy the brew too much as you may just land up in the harbor waters!
