Bloemendal SOS Farm Festival
Dungarees and straw hats are going to be the dress code of the day…
Bloemendal Wine Estate will be celebrating its Season of Sauvignon this year with a Farm Festival. Festival goers will experience the art of farm life, with live bands, food stalls and “farm sports” competitions, all depicting the wide array of Cape Town’s Northern Suburb cultures. Music genres from Boere Orkeste, Country, Rock and Blues will be provided by the great bands Cape Town has to offer.
Food stalls will range from various potjies like kerrie affal, lamb and bredies to traditional braai, lamb spit, rooster brood, stywe pap, farm breads and lots more. Celebrity chefs will be holding cooking demonstrations and comedians will be will be keeping us tickled.
As Sauvignon Blanc is Bloemendal’s flagship wine, they will be offering free wine tasting and you can relax in the “fountain wine bar”, while your feet cool off in the water. Bloemendal wines will be sold at a festival price to make this affordable to all festival goers.
Another great attraction will be the Mampoer Ice Bar. Picture yourself bent over backwards with your mouth open under the exit of a furrow carved into a ice block, with a shot of mampoer hurtling down the furrow to land into your mouth…. now that’s what you call “Mampoer Luge”. One cannot have a farm festival without copious amounts of mampoer and the Redneck Bush Bar will quench any thirst.
Great prizes will be given away to the best dressed, there is a hillbilly lurking in all of us.
Entry is R60p/p | Children under 12 are free
The festival is open on Saturday from 10:00 – 22:00 and on Sunday from 10:00 – 18:00
