Blind Buddy Day
Don your dark sunglasses and buy a Blind Buddy sticker in support of individuals with visual impairments
Join forces with The League of Friends of the Blind (LOFOB) on Blind Buddy Day, Friday, 31 May 2013, to better the lives of partially sighted and blind people.
This annual charity fundraiser calls on members of the public to wear a pair of dark sunglasses on the day and purchase a Blind Buddy Day sticker (they’re only R10!) in a show of solidarity and support for those who have lost all or part of their ability to see.
All profits from the initiative go to The League of Friends of the Blind, which is a Cape Town-based non-profit organisation that, in 2013, celebrates 80 years of dedicated service.
Established in 1933, the organisation is committed to offering Independence Development, Early Childhood Development and Wellness, Sports and Recreation services to the visually impaired community. Through its intervention, LOFOB aims to allow partially sighted and blind people to fulfil normal lives, integrate with society and break down the barrier between those individuals who are sighted and those who are visually impaired.
How to become a Blind Buddy?
The R10 stickers can be purchased at selected Spar Stores in the Western Cape or by telephoning +27 (0) 21 705 3753. Wear your sticker on May 31, as well as your dark shades, and you are officially a Blind Buddy!
Your contribution to the LOFOB helps give those with visual impairments hope and vision for the future.
