Bastille Concerts in Cape Town
The UK’s biggest music stars of 2013 are heading to the Mother City
English indie electronica darling Bastille is set to excite and delight Mother City fans at their two sold-out concerts at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden on Wednesday, 8 and Friday, 10 January 2014. Tickets for the first show date went so fast that the band had to add the Friday concert to their tour schedule, which also ended up selling out at breakneck speed.
With a debut album, “Bad Blood”, that landed straight at number one on the UK Albums Chart upon release and the hit single ‘Pompeii’ permanently stuck in music-loving ears since its release in February 2013, it’s really no surprise that Cape Town fans are keen to see the Londoners perform live. Bastille’s synthpop piano melodies, evident in popular songs like ‘Things We Lost in the Fire’, ‘Laura Palmer’ and ‘Flaws, are sure to leave concert-goers more than satisfied on these nights to remember.
Frontman singer-songwriter Dan Smith began his career as a solo artist, but later decided to recruit Chris Wood on drums, William Farquarson on bass and Kyle Simmons on keyboard to form Bastille, as it is known and loved today. The group’s first official track from the album “Bad Blood”, ‘Overjoyed,’ was released in April 2012, but it was the fourth single, ‘Pompeii’, which caught the attention of listeners the world over and became the groups first top-five hit.
It’s bound to be a spectacular show with people picnicking in the picturesque surroundings while being serenaded by these future legends.
