2016 CHAN Tournament
The competition heats up as sixteen teams go toe-to-toe in a bid to reach the African Nations Championship finals
The 2016 Orange African Nations Championship (CHAN), will be hosted by hosted by Rwanda from Saturday, 16 January to Sunday, 7 February 2016, with 16 teams taking part. The qualifying rounds have been completed and unfortunately Bafana Bafana did not make it through to the group matches.
The teams taking part in the tournament are; Angola, Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Gabon, Guinea, Mali, Morocco, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Unlike the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), the teams who qualify can only consist of players who play in their domestic leagues. Both tournaments, however, are biennial events that run in consecutive years (so 2015 saw AFCON, 2016 will have CHAN, 2017 will have AFCON and so on).
Although no games will be played in Cape Town (or South Africa) for the remainder of this tournament, we have an awesome list of places you can go to watch the games in our beloved city.
