Autumn Symphony Season
A classical way to spend an autumn evening in the city
Symphony season is approaching, and what better way to spend a crisp autumn evening than listening to the beautiful musical creations of years gone by? This year, symphony season features four classical concerts, each hosted at Cape Town City Hall, every Thursday evening from Thursday, 28 April 2016 to Thursday, 19 May 2016.
Four very gifted musicians will take to the stage this season, including cellist Alexander Ramm and pianist Melvyn Tan, to delight and enchant lovers of classical music at one of Cape Town’s most charming settings.
CONCERT LINE-UP FOR THE 2016 AUTUMN SYMPHONY SEASON AT CAPE TOWN CITY HALL
Symphony Concert No.1
On Thursday, 28 April 2016, the talented Cellist Alexander Ramm will take the stage to dazzle you with music. Accompanying Ramm is the widely loved Cape Philharmonic Orchestra, under Conrad van Alphen. The music on the sheet includes Tchaikovsky Variations, Balakirev’s Symphony Poem ‘Tamara’, and Vaughn Williams Symphony No. 2 in G.
Symphony Concert No.2
Violinist Nikita Boriso-Glebsky, along with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra, will perform Vieuxtemps Violin Concerto, Mozart’s Symphony No.38 in D, and Dvorak Symphony No.7 in D minor. This performance will also be at Cape Town City Hall, on Thursday, 5 May 2016, starting at 8pm.

Symphony Concert No.4
Drawing the concert series to an end on Thursday, 19 May 2016, is Bryan Wallick on piano performed with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra. They will be performing Prokofiev Piano Concerto No.2 in G minor, Mendelssohn Symphony No.3 in A minor and Britten Passacaglia from Peter Grimes.

TICKETS FOR THE 2016 AUTUMN SYMPHONY SEASON AT CAPE TOWN CITY HALL
Tickets are available online via Computicket.com and the cost varies depending on where you elect to sit. Tickets range from R90p/p to R230p/p. There are season tickets available, which offer a 20% discount on tickets prices for all four concerts, for those who do not want to miss a single show. These are also available online through Computicket.com and range in price from R480p/p to R736p/p.
