#Pickoftheweek: An All-Female Cast for The Taming of the Shrew (Throughout February)
For the first time at the Maynardville Open-Air Theatre the Shakespeare play, The Taming of the Shrew will be led by an all-female cast. The production tells the story of the headstrong Kate who is being wooed by the ever-persistent Petruchio.

2. Prawn to be Wild at the Prawn Festival (24 February)
The Cape Town Prawn Festival and Vasco Prix Du Cap horse racing event is back for another trot around the track this year. Featuring you, those majestic equestrian beauties and, of course, prawns for days! This family affair is one you don’t want to miss.

3. Alien Safari: Wild Spirits Music Festival (24 and 25 February)
Kogel Bay Resort will once again play host to Alien Safari. Grab your mates and stomp it out to epic local and international DJs and producers, like Eat Static (UK) and Fagin’s Reject (UK). This weekend is jam-packed with adventure at this secluded beach near Gordon’s Bay.

4. Creative Inspiration Overload at Design Indaba (21 to 24 February)
This three-day event is a showcase of the world’s most creative minds, offering endless inspiration, new perspectives and universal solutions to social problems. Besides the creativity, there’ll be a pop-up restaurant by Bertus Basson.

5. Bob Marley Tribute Fest (25 February)
Trenchtown Obs is paying homage to the legendary Bob Marley with a tribute fest. Local musicians Dubmasta China and Triple Crown Sound System will be the hosts for the event, while DJ Radioface will be spinning reggae and dancehall tunes. There will also be a screening of the acclaimed Marley documentary.

6. The Birdcage at the Milnerton Playhouse (Until 24 February)
The theatre adaption of the iconic film starring Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, Gene Hackman and Dianne West is on at the Milnerton Playhouse. Expect the ups, downs, glitz and glamour of onstage drag artists, peeps into the nightclub, an unusual family occasion and absolutely unforgettable characters.

7. Bonang Hosts the Grand White (24 February)
