7 Weekend Picks To Re-Invigorate Your Life

From runs to natural medicine to mid-air yoga

Do you have any resolutions for 2020? Well, this weekend we have a list of events to ensure that you stay on track. Like a mash-up event of yoga and food that’ll give you a new perspective on life. There’s also a class where you’ll get to use an aerial hammock and a family run with a wine tasting twist. Plus next week we have an iconic Cape Town group playing at an iconic venue, vision board making workshop and exhilarating 4x4 racing in Durbanville.

#Pickoftheweek: Reward Your Run With Wine Tasting
Saturday, 18 January
If you haven’t fallen off the ‘new year, new me’ wagon yet, then you should be into a consistent running pattern by now. Test your legs (whether you’ve turned over a new leaf, are a proud fitness enthusiast or just want to see how you’ll do) on a run and enjoy some wine tasting afterwards at the Run The Vines #13 in Doolhof.

2. Learn To Do Yoga And Pilates In Mid Air
Saturday, 18 January
If you’re tired of the same old yoga and pilates routine then maybe it’s time to add some fun to your practice. Enter the aerial hammock; a fun and exhilarating tool that’ll add a new dimension to a class. Learn to set up and use this cool tool at the Aerial Moves Workshop.

3. Lie Low And Flow To Top DJ’s On The Olifants River
Thursday, 16 January - Monday, 20 January
You may have just come off holiday, but there’s nothing wrong with having another weekend away. Especially when you get to relax on a lilo in a dam while top local DJs like Bruno Morphet spin EDM tunes. This is an outdoor camping trip, and there are regular as well as glamping options available at the Wolfkop Weekender.

4. Love Life Through Food And Yoga
Sunday, 19 January
A Dutch yoga instructor and an Italian chef want to show you how to find happiness in simple things. Rediscover your passion for life and try out a unique yoga technique at the Symbiotic Series 10.0 Yoga & Brunch.

5. University Courses That You Can Definitely Afford
All Week
Learn from top professors and lecturers about literature, South African history, astrophotography, plus the ins and outs of the recent Cape Town drought. It’s a season of learning (without the hefty fees) at the UCT Summer School.

6. No Doctor Required
Saturday, 18 January
Natural medicine experts will show you how to turn your garden into a pharmacy and cosmetic counter while taking you on a tour of the Winford Nature Reserve in Red Hill. Become your own healer at the Natural Medicine Making Introductory Course.

7. Cape Town City Looking For Revenge
Saturday, 18 January
Wins have been hard to come by for the Citizens but they’ll have more than victory on their mind when the clever boys visit the Cape Town Stadium. Having lost to the Johannesberg side less than a month ago, our players will hope that home advantage makes a difference this time around when Cape Town City play Bidvest Wits.

Festival Of Rebels
Motorbikes, rock ‘n’ roll and rebellion... You’ll find plenty of that at this festival. There will also be food, entertainment for the kids and a Harley Davidson riding experience. Plus classic live acts and more at the Festival Of Rebels: Motorcycle Lifestyle Festival.

Battle Of The Beasts
Big wheels and rumbling engines that are rough and ready for any terrain. These are the beast-like vehicles you can expect at the second edition of the Coopertires’ Battle Of The Beasts.

Picnic Concert With The Rockets
Iconic Cape Town music group The Rockets are bringing their original classics and favourites covers to the Paarl Afrikaans Taalmonument for their annual picnic concert.

Vision Board Workshop
Put your New Year’s resolutions into action with some art therapy led by art psychotherapist Samantha Davis at her Cape Town Vision Board Workshop.
