Here’s a  birthday party idea your kid will never forget: Take a fun, wild downhill ride at Middelvlei Wine Farm on eco-friendly Monster Mountain Scooters. Kids, friends and family can all challenge each other as they zoot down the mountain slopes and through the vineyard on these non-electric gravity scooters. 

An exhilarating, action-packed adventure will give you an appetite, so afterwards have a boerie roll and cool drink. Plus, there’s a free, online invitation included in the kids birthday party package.

Waffles + hotdogs + beach = great kids party. The Waffle Shack is right on Onrus Lagoon, so stock up on buckets and spades from their shop and make your way down to the beach. Once the kids are ravenously hungry, you can visit again for loaded hotdogs and waffles: they’ll have a ton of fun building their own.

Celebrate your kids birthday with a ride on the “Old Lady”, a vintage mini blue train located on the beach front in Mouille Point. 8 500m2 of outdoor space to allow your kids to simply be kids, run wild and have fun. The Blue Train Park offers an array of interactive areas for kids between the ages of 1 - 12 years, including various climbing structures,a dirt bike track, zip line, rock-climbing wall, and a mini soccer pitch.

Kids can have endless indoor fun at this play park in Somerset West, from a course for ninja warriors to a climbing grid maze. The birthday child gets one hour free on their special and it’s no cost for kids under 1 at Wild Wild West. Please bring IDs or birth certificates.

Treat the kids with a French-themed fête. Voilà Café & Crêpes, in Durbanville, is available for birthday parties and other special occasions. Kids can build their own crêpes, with toppings including Nutella, Oreo Cookies, speckled eggs and marshmallows. Plus, there is an 18-hole mini-golf course on site.

Ipic Play is the largest, next-level, indoor-adventure park in the Northern Suburbs. There are different sections for different age groups. Kids under 2 can play in Toddler Town or the Digital Art Room. Kids between 3 and 17 can explore the jump zone, a giant slide, the gladiator pit and lots of climbing!

Between a sinking shipwreck, cursed treasure or a decrepit hotel riddled with a murder mystery, this escape-room experience is the perfect birthday party idea for your little detectives. The rules are simple: find the clues and escape under 60 minutes. Teams can be between 2-6 people. Plus, there’s a fun play area at HintHunt Africa in the Watershed at the V&A Waterfront.

Grab your knee guards and have some fun at Rollercade. This is the first indoor roller-skating park in Cape Town and it is jam-packed with fun, music, neon lights and good ol’ roller skating. Space is limited and booking your birthday session is required. Important: bring socks with you.

We’ve all seen the Jolly Roger Pirate Boat, but have you actually been on it? It’s South Africa’s only pirate ship and has to be one of the most original birthday-party venues a child can have. All aboard the Blue Train. There are loads of fun things for kids to do in the Blue Train Park. Kids can take a ride on the “Old Lady” Mini Blue Train, make use of a mini-skate park, drive pedal push carts, whizz down a zip-line, and scramble over two jungle gyms and an obstacle course. There is also a small kiosk offering yummy treats.

Opt for a fun-filled, action-packed birthday with paintball and lasertag in Kommetjie. Imhoff Farm offers these two thrill-seeking activities every day of the week and has all the equipment needed to hunt down friends and have a good laugh.

With various themes to choose from, animals to meet, fun interactive play areas and lots of adventure – The Riding Centre, in Hout Bay, is a wonderful venue for a birthday party. There are two venue options: The Garden Playground and The Adventure Playground. You can also learn to ride or let the kids stop by for some pony playtime.

If your kid has a summer birthday, opt for a splashy party. Waterworld in Strand has five waterslides, including safe play areas for under-6s and other attractions such as putt-putt, a jungle gym, zip slide, obstacle course and shaded café. You get two hours of access to all rides, as well as a picnic table area for the party.

Although the Two Oceans Aquarium no longer offers the option to hold birthday parties there , you can now get free access to it on your birthday.
