Think back to beach days as a kid: Sand between your toes, sticky fingers, bright beach umbrellas and the smell of sunscreen. At the Waffle Shack, with a build-your-own waffle counter and loaded hotdogs, you can get this nostalgic summer feeling all year round.

BRING YOUR SANDY TOES  

The Waffle Shack is located on Onrus lagoon and has a wooden deck overlooking the water. Lined with colourful bar stools and a giant funky mural of an English bulldog named Cindy, you’ll be able to watch children building sand castles on the beach and people swimming in the lagoon. Expect to see excited kids, wet dogs and sandy footprints covering the slats of the deck.

HAVE ICE CREAM AT THE BEACH, REIMAGINED   

At the Waffle Shack, you can build your own waffle. With a selection of all sorts of toppings - like jelly tots and beans, Smarties, Bar One pieces - kids can go wild. There are also signature options like the Cheesecake Waffle, which is topped with vanilla ice cream, a tangy cheesecake mixture and berry coulis. Don’t forget to try a croissant waffle: a sticky, chewy, syrup-ey croissant made in a waffle press.

STICKY FINGERS A GUARANTEE     

Not much of a sweet tooth? We get it - after a long day at the beach there’s hardly a better feeling than tucking into a carby meal. At the Waffle Shack, you can devour loaded hotdogs and fries. Think Mexican hotdogs smothered in crushed nachos, jalapenos, guacamole, and mustard - so loaded that the toppings drip down the sides of your hands.

DRINK UNIQUE COCKTAILS AT THE WATER’S EDGE     

Although this spot may be a kiddie haven, there’s plenty of play for adults too. Try a Popcorn Gin and Tonic (with pieces of caramel popcorn floating in it) or the Dogbowl cocktail (a tropical cocktail served in an actual dog bowl). Or, just enjoy an ice cold Onrus Ale after a long day at the beach.

THERE’S SUSHI UPSTAIRS      

Head up the stairs and you'll find a second beach-side restaurant. Milk on the Beach has a larger menu, with choices like burgers, poke bowls and fish and chips. It’s also the only restaurant in Onrus that has sushi.
