Something for the Weekend: Family Spitbraai Sundays in the Elgin Valley

A scenic road trip with spitbraai and loads of fun family activities at Old Mac Daddy

Pack up the car and the kids and head out to Grabouw for a fully-loaded family Sunday as Old Mac Daddy brings out the spitbraai every weekend for their weekly summer event running from 28 October to 30 December 2018.

Besides a delicious buffet menu, there’ll be drink specials, vibey tunes and beach vibes on the dam for the grown-ups. Kids get to experience the family braai of their dreams with jumping castles, water slides, sand-castle building, jungle gyms and even more on the day (weather permitting).

The spitbraai buffet costs R245pp and R125pp for kids, check it out below.

  • Greek-style lamb on spit
  • Lemon and thyme roasted chicken
  • Seasonal oven-roasted vegetables
  • Rosemary baby potatoes
  • Coleslaw with cranberries and pumpkin seeds
  • Three bean salad
  • Traditional Greek salad
  • Ciabatta with mini butter, hummus and sun-dried tomato pesto

  • Malva pudding with custard
  • Chocolate brownie squares
  • Seasonal fruit skewers

They’ve also got an array of tasty vegan and vegetarian options. For any other information or to book a table, give them a call on +27 (0)21 844 8900 or email them at thebarn@oldmacdaddy.co.za.

Keep the kids entertained with our mega list of things to do with kids or try something different and take a trip to the Elgin railway market.

You can also supercharge your next weekend away with these unusual places to stay. Or maybe consider a family glamping getaway or a Karoo family farm eco stay.
