VISIT THIS WINTER NIGHT MARKET
Shake off the winter blues and head to the Century City Night Market, held at Intaka Island. There’s live music, a thrifting corner, and everything from tacos, empanadas, and boa buns to samosas, Cape Malay curry and other hearty food. This market is a must-visit if you want to try different types of cuisines.

JOIN A GIN TASTING ON SATURDAY

WATCH DOCUMENTARY FILMS AT THIS FESTIVAL
Grab your popcorn and join the 24th Encounters South African International Documentary Festival. It's the number one documentary festival in Africa and will be showcased at the Labia Theatre. The 10-day multiplatform event will feature the best African and international documentaries.

SHOP AT THE ULTIMATE THRIFT FEST ON SUNDAY
Bring the family, picnic blankets and shopping bags to this all day thrift fest at Imhoff Farm. Spend the day at one of the most beautiful venues in Kommetjie, while shopping for vintage and thrift clothing items. There will be food and drinks specials on offer and parking is available, too.

PLAY AT A WINTER WONDERLAND
Make the most of winter at Snow World at Waterworld Strand. This snow park offers combinations of snow and ice activities for all ages, from ice slides, a snow play area, snow ramps and there are even animals from the Ice Age. Note: Dress for snow. It will get chilly.

CHECK OUT THIS WINTER ART EXHIBITION
The Cape Gallery presents its annual Winter Solstice Exhibition this June and July. It’s a group project, with art illustrating the changing of seasons in Cape Town. The various artists featured have drawn inspiration from the Cape storms, fog and hibernation.

WATCH BRECHT AT THE MAGNET THEATRE
The Magnet Theatre is showcasing The Good Soul of Szechuan, by Bertolt Brecht, this June. Starring the 6th cohort of the Magnet Theatre’s Training Programme, this dynamic play celebrates the skill and resilience of a new wave of young performers, using physical imagery, choral work and singing.

VISIT A FLEA MARKET THIS SUNDAY
The Muizenberg Flea Market has been in existence for the last 34 years. It has over 300 stalls that sell everything from Cape Malay food and mielies in a cup to underwear and brass decor. And best part of all, you always leave with a bargain when you visit this Sunday market.

HIKE TO A MYSTICAL WATERFALL
Unwind by hiking to a waterfall in Cecilia Forest. There are many routes to get there: Cecilia car park, Newlands Forest, Constantia Nek and Kirstenbosch Gardens. The routes differ in duration and difficulty, but all lead to the breathtaking water gushing over hanging ferns and green mosses. All the routes are pet friendly and most of them are free!
