Let the good times roll (and the dice decide your drink) at this Long Street bar and eatery
You might have had one of those evenings when you and a friend vowed slurring: “We should open a bar!” Well, that’s exactly how a staple of Long Street was born. One drunken night out in Stellenbosch, a group of friends decided to turn their dream of good food and great music into a hotspot reality.
Step inside and discover the rock ‘n roll tunes, live music and DJs. There’s a house party vibe with pizza, burger and drink specials. And you can let the dice decide what cocktail you’ll have (yes, actual dice). That’s what Sgt Pepper is all about.
It’s also a perfect one-stop-shop for your event, too. Have a look:
THEY KEEP THE PARTY GOING AT SGT PEPPER ON LONG (WATCH)
DON’T STOP TILL YOU GET ENOUGH
Sgt Pepper has been at its Long Street venue for seven years (after moving from its original Stellenbosch location, where it was for around five years). It’s a place to escape the rut of everyday life, to celebrate music, to dance like nobody’s watching and to indulge in that guilty pleasure – pizza.
Listen closely and the legends of rock, Freddie, Jimi, Bob or Elvis, will suck you into the red smokey room with its famous Rock Bar.
There is a DJ keeping the dance floor packed from Tuesday to Saturday every week, and there is live music to keep you entertained from Thursday to Sunday.
LET THE DICE DECIDE YOUR DRINK
Of course they have an awesome bar stocked with whatever you could ask for. But one awesome discovery to look out for is the dice that helps you decide what to drink.
There are three dice – one for the base alcohol, another for the sweetening liqueur, and the last for the final twist. Take a risk and you could end up with something revolutionary. Additionally, be sure to capitalise on the specials – there’s one for every day of the week, including an all-day cocktail special on Sundays.
The main restaurant-bar area features an eight-metre non-smoking bar, where their crew serve numerous house doubles (double-shot spirit specials) every day of the week, shake up some rock song-inspired cocktails or tempt you into trying their signature Stroh Rum-laced low flyer.
Pop in during their happy hour and you’ll get to meet the lady in red (a signature cocktail of vodka and coconut rum shaken cold with strawberry & a splash of grenadine) or be offered a one night stand (a classic with another name – vodka & peach schnapps shaken cold with cranberry, orange & grenadine).
HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF
Sgt Pepper’s kitchen operates daily from 11am to 11pm and will whip up anything from jalapeno poppers, for the not-so-hungry, to salads, ciabattas and wraps for the lighter eaters. If you’re into rock stars, groupies or roadies (their pizza selection), you may want to taste the Molly Mushroom, or even give their Tannie Tandoori a go (she’s a hall of famer).
THANK GOD IT’S MONDAY
Host your birthday party or function at Sgt Pepper for free on Mondays – up to 150 people, no venue charge (only pay for food and drinks) and free live entertainment with Mahala Mondays.
PIZZA AND BURGER SPECIALS
A good reason to eat out during the week is Sgt Pepper’s two-for-one pizza special on Tuesdays and a two-for-one burger special every Thursday. Read more about their pizza and burger specials.
