Bye 2024 and hello 2025: Festival in a castle, family dinner, disco & more

Party in a mythical castle? Boogie at a country club? Botanical garden concert? We’ve gathered some of the best and most unique events happening on New Year’s Eve to party into 2025.
Last year we shared experiences from a masquerade ball to an outdoor family concert at Kirstenbosch.
Keep an eye out, this year all the way until the 31 December our team will constantly updating with selected events - something for each and every single one of you - to make your 31 December memorable.

Rock Steady will be heading up a performance at Woodstock Brewery. The doors open at 7pm with the performances at 8.30pm. Tickets include a glass of wine or beer on arrival, a main course meal and access to the band's performance. A taxi service can be arranged with Woodstock Brewery for an additional fee to limited areas.

Cape Town's East City New Year's Eve 'Go To'! Come in animal print, blue, yellow and pink – you’ll fit right into Harrington's, which will be decorated like a lush and colourful safari jungle. There’ll be curated cocktails, canapés, floating-style dinner and DJs like Gary Night, Hartley, Travis Mason, Lucideep and more. You’ll also get access to neighbour venues Surfa Rosa and District (which means three vibey parties across three dancefloors).

For a sophisticated, upmarket New Year's Eve: Don your best 1920’s fit for a Great Gatsby evening at Palm House, a five-star boutique hotel with lush gardens and views of the Twelve Apostles and Table Mountain. There’ll be canapés and an arrival drink, a five-course dinner and live entertainment from one of South Africa’s finest jazz bands, the Duncan Johnson Quartet.

In Hermanus for New Year's Eve this year? At Ficks, wooden decks are tucked into the cliff contours and overlook the surrounding sea and nearby tidal pool. They’ll be hosting a Studio 54-themed silent disco. Your ticket includes a welcome drink and bubbly and Oliebollen at midnight. There’s also plenty of cocktails and pinchos at Ficks.

This year's celebrations are grander than ever. There’ll be an impressive lineup of local celebrity guests, from Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis giving a welcome address to Ryan O'Connor emceeing the festivities. Artists include Mandisi Dyantyis (an icon of South African jazz), folk pop sensation Matthew Mole, and Sun-El Musician, who’ll be hosting the midnight countdown with Afro-house and electronic beats.

Just outside of Cape Town lies a hidden castle snatched out of a fairytale. Join Sexy Groovy Love as they return to celebrate New Years Eve. Explore hidden pathways, magical waterfalls and high castle walls, as you dance to the sounds of afro house, indie, techno and more. Kiss 2023 goodbye with Sexy Groovy Love at The Castle.

If you’d prefer a more laid back way to celebrate, then family restaurant Dutchies is the way to go. It’s right on Grotto Beach, which has Blue Flag status, with fresh sushi, seafood and tapas. In the early evening, it’s lovely to sit in the garden area or out front and drink a cocktail at Dutchies.

Award-winning local comedian Loyiso Gola will be performing a new comedy set at the Homecoming Centre from 15 December 2023 to 15 January 2024. Ring in a new year by laughing with the crowd as Loyiso gives us a comedic take on the year.

Join Clovelly Golf Club’s New Year’s boogie, with local musicians and a lamb spit braai. Mike McCully and the Harmonix will be singing all your favourites from the ‘60s to the ‘90s. You’ll hear hits from artists like The Beatles, The Bee Gees, James Brown, Tina Turner, The Bee Gees, Donna Summer, Bon Jovi, Queen and more.

Looking for New Year's Eve events on a wine estate? Benguela Cove Wine Estate is throwing a party with food, drinks and dancing. The evening starts with sunset canapes and drinks at the Moody Lagoon, followed by a dinner. The after party kicks off with live music and a complimentary glass of bubbles to toast at midnight.

Babylon meets The Great Gatsby at Epicure Club’s masquerade ball. There’ll be mature adult entertainment combined with kinks and fetishes. There will be live DJs, burlesque shows and more at this adults-only sensual entertainment event close to Hout Bay.

Kirstenbosch is back with its popular sunset concerts, and on NYE, you can pack a picnic and listen to music from Jeremy Loops and Congo Cowboys. Gates open at 7pm with the concert starting at 8.30pm and running until after midnight for you to dance into the new year.

Looking for NYE festivals in and around Cape Town? Thrive is a six-day consciously-curated festival and retreat. Expect daily workshops for adults and kids, breathwork, yoga, a New Year’s Eve banquet, live music, DJs, fire dancing, sunset dinners and much more.

For parents looking for daytime activities on New Year’s Eve, you can take your kids to South Africa’s biggest inflatable course. This maze is 300 metres long with 30 obstacle challenges to complete including slides, wall climbing, balance balls and more. Grip socks can be purchased on entrance for R30, or brought with if already owned.
