Tikka chicken pizza, salomies, falooda, burgers + more
Last updated: Monday, 27 September 2021
The Roadhouse in Athlone was a famous nightclub, The Address Club, for 20 years. Now it’s a fast food joint serving the food of the Cape Flats made by local cooks. You’ll find Cape Town classics like masala steak salomies, toasted masala steak sandwiches, koesisters, falooda and tikka chicken pizza.

“If you’ve never eaten a toasted masala steak sandwich or a salomie, you haven’t had the whole Cape Flats experience. These are staples here, and for us they are our version of soul food,” says Bev Patel, one of the owners at The Roadhouse.

This is a Cape Flats culinary experience. At The Roadhouse you’ll find all the fast foods you crave, from burgers and pizza, to koesisters and falooda (an Indian version of the Persian dessert of a similar name, made with sweet basil seeds, rose syrup, vermicelli, milk and ice-cream).

“We want to create a space where we can bring people together, and what better way than with food?” says Bev Patel. Bev calls their full house steak sandwich a “must-have”. Then there’s the No. 11 Pizza, topped with: tikka chicken, masala steak, green peppers, chilli and garlic.
