Inventive small plates best explored with a wine pairing
Calling all Cape Town dance crews! It’s time to put your best feet forward and compete to win some fabulous prizes and the title of South Africa’s Best Dance Crew. Now in its third season, ETV’s Step Up or Step Out is once more on the prowl for street dancing teams who can pop, lock, krump, pantsula or move their bodies in any way that will amuse and amaze. Those who think they have what it takes are invited to do their best to impress the judges at auditions at Dance for All Studios in Athlone on Saturday, 4 May and Sunday, 5 May 2013.
The show premiers on ETV on Sunday, 23 June 2013 with new hosts Slikour and YFM’s Tumi Voster taking charge. DJ Euphonik joins Emile YX and Khabonina at the judges table as they decide each week which dance group gets to step up and which one has to step out. Dancers will be put through their paces with a grueling audition round and an intense Sweat Week to test their moves and style flexibility – can a hip-hopper switch to Bollywood moves?
Last year’s winners, Tembisa Tap Revolution have had a full schedule since being named South Africa’s Best Dance Crew. They’ve shot music videos, shared a stage with Kanye West, worked with local artists like HHP and even hosted their own dance competitions. Could this be you and your crew? Do you have what it takes?
How To Enter
One member of each crew (between three and five people) must fill out the application form available at Etv.co.za or at the audition venue on the day. All members must be South African citizens or residents over the age of 18 and be able to supply their name, surname and ID number on the application (copies of either an ID of proof of residency is essential). A list of approved audition music is available on the Etv.co.za website, and your dance routine should be no longer than 90 seconds.
