The Newlands Spring was so popular that the City of Cape Town built a new one last year. The Bradwell Spring in Vredehoek is once again open to the public since lockdown began, but with a few safety measures in place, including social distancing measures being implemented.

OPEN SEVEN DAYS A WEEK
The spring, on the corner of Upper Buitenkant and Ludlow Street (next to the Yeoville Sports field), has four taps and is open every day of the week from 5am to 9pm. The Bradwell Spring is the second formalised spring water collection point built by the City after the Newlands Spring.
SOCIAL DISTANCING WILL BE IN PLACE
There will be security to ensure that social distancing practices are adhered to, as well as managing the parking and other Covid-19 regulations, according to the City of Cape Town. Hand sanitiser will be available at the spring entrance.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO STAY SAFE
To ensure everyone’s safety, the following rules need to be followed, says the City:
You are limited to a maximum of 25 litres at a time to prevent backlogs
You cannot enter the site without a mask
Make sure you keep 1.5m distance from others at all times
Sanitise your hands when you enter the site
Open and closed the taps with the back of your hands
Ensure that your container does not touch the tap
Take note that this water is not treated, so the City of Cape Town cannot guarantee that it’s safe for drinking.
