We're the big cheese, the bees' knees and the cat's pyjamas of culinary capitals according to this new survey!
As part of the famed Readers’ Choice Awards survey, Conde Nast Traveler’s readers just named Cape Town the best food city in the world! And as Capetonians, we’re not surprised at all. Let’s face it; we’re completely spoilt for choice in this city – from ice cream sandwiches and fish and chips, to fancy tapas and Test Kitchen treats, our restaurants rule and are one of the countless reasons why adventurous foodies keep flocking to our shores. To celebrate the achievement, here are three of our favourite food overviews that prove once and for all why the Mother City is the world’s cutting edge destination for cuisine.
Let’s start with our overview of the top ten Instagram food photos that prove Cape Town is the globe’s culinary capital. Prepare yourselves people, your mouths are going to water and you’re going to want to sprint to the nearest hot spot on this list.
Next, if you still have an appetite for more tasty pics and top foodie tips, check out our feature on ten of the best Cape Town food experiences that are surprisingly affordable. Yes, we want you to be well fed, and for your bank account to stay satiated too!
Lastly, if you’re a foodie and a festival fiend, you’re not going to want to miss these fabulous food-oriented fests coming up in the next few months. We’re talking cheese festivals, coffee and chocolate expos and sushi festivals guys so best you diarise!
Well done to our pretty city for conquering yet another leader board. What a privilege it is to live in a place where beauty, food and all the other good things in life collide.
