I see snow on the mountain

Winter was quite moody this past weekend with Cape Town experiencing heat, wind, rain, and snow!

Both the Western and Eastern Cape were hit by a cold front this past weekend, resulting in snowfall. Capetonians woke up to a chilly morning on Monday, 17 July 2017, with snowtipped mountains, including our very own Table Mountain, and tons of images circulating on social media. Instagram was probably hardest hit, with hundreds of uploads of the icy outdoors and blankets of white snow covering certain areas in the provinces.

We might feel like we’re freezing in Cape Town, but Sutherland in the Northern Cape really is icey, and remains the coldest place in the country, with temperatures dropping as low as -8 Degrees Celsius.

After a weekend of super cold temperatures and lots of welcome rain, South Africans have woken up to this:
