All about the Long Street Market

POSTPONED: Live music, food trucks, party: Every Saturday, midday to midnight

Last updated: Monday, 28 February 2022

Every Saturday from 3pm to 12am, Long Street will be closed off for the Long Street Market. It’s a vibey event, where you can either chill for the afternoon or enjoy a wild Saturday night. With everything from food and artisanal produce to live entertainment and busking stations, this market is a celebration of Cape Town culture.

The City of Cape Town, along with some establishments in Long Street, want to uplift and revitalize the CBD by providing a safe space and exhilarating experience for all Capetonians and visitors to the city. There’ll be a different environment at every corner with loads of activities on offer.

Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, halaal or just plain hungry, Long Street Market has food trucks with every kind of cuisine – there are more than 20 vendors. Some restaurants on the street, like Beerhouse, will be working hand-in-hand with the market, plus there’ll be artisanal stalls ranging from art vendors to fresh produce growers.

The market is also pet friendly. Image: Isabella Gia Bruno

Get your dancing shoes ready, because there are three culturally distinct stages across Long Street for you to move to. You’ll find a busking station for new and hidden talents, a groove stage curated around the culture of house music and the underground sound, and a dance stage that is open until midnight. Outdoor bars will also be available throughout the day.

The busking stage closes by 8pm, groove stage by 10pm and dance stage by 12pm. Image: Isabella Gia Bruno

Long Street Market is open: Every Saturday from 3pm to 12am
