We’ve rounded up a list of activities for kids and the whole family to enjoy for the June–July holidays, from holiday programmes to an affordable trip up Table Mountain, you’ll wish the holidays were even longer.
STELLENBOSCH ANIMAL FARM
Take the kids out to the winelands to see the cuddly farm animals at an animal farm or enjoy the thrill of a mini racetrack or an enormous sandpit in Stellenbosch. This family-friendly spot has a play area for the kids, and one for the parents too – the vineyard produces its own wine and offers wine tastings. There’s so much more to discover, you’ll definitely want to spend some holiday time at the Vredenheim Animal Farm.

CALM AND EASY GLAMPING

PARKOUR FOR PARENTS AND KIDS
The Moya Centre in Fish Hoek is all about movement: everything from climbing, martial arts, parkour, workshops and parties for kids. Kids work their energy out in the stunt studio. There’s yoga and parkour on offer for adults too, so parents can workout at the same time. You can try out a class for free, too.
Open: Monday to Friday 8am–9pm.

AFTERSCHOOL AND HOLIDAY PROGRAMMES
This one’s just for the kids. Kay-dee Educare in Mowbray is an aftercare with a school holiday programme for all kids – they care for kids with autism, ADHD, ADD and other disabilities, too. Their holiday club gives kids a friendly group to enjoy outings like going to the movies and lunch at different restaurants, as well as activities such as dancing, computer lessons, karate and swimming during their time at the club.
Open: Monday to Friday 7am–6pm.
Price: Full-day fees during school holidays are R200 per day per child, which includes meals, class and fun activities.

TREASURE HUNT ON TABLE MOUNTAIN
During Kidz Season at the Table Mountain cableway, on until 8 July, and again from 18 August to 30 September 2019, two kids ride for free with an adult whose has purchased a Kidz Season return ticket, any day of the week. That’s three for one, and it includes a treasure hunt map for the kids and something sweet when they hand in their Kidz Season vouchers at the Shop at The Top.

Let the kids experience a sense of independence and adventure on a school holiday camp. Bootcamp South Africa hosts a winter camp every year. It’s held at Buffalo Drift on the banks of the Berg River, and kids from all over Cape Town sign up to the annual camp. With a splash pool, sports field, fishing competitions and canoe river races, it’s an unmissable experience for schoolgoers on holiday.
Open: The camp runs from 2–5 July 2019.

SILLY CIRCUS ACTIVITIES
Kids aged 5-8 years can enjoy a jampacked weekend of magical fun with the Zip Zap Circus’ winter camp. Interactive games, learning circus techniques and the chance to make great new friends are what the weekend is all about. Kids are taught through games in a non-competitive, safe environment that is all about fun. At the end of the weekend, children stage a live show with make-up and music. Children will receive hot chocolate and cookies each day, along with a clown red nose, a participation certificate and a ticket for them and a friend to the Greatest Little Circus show on 24 or 25 August 2019.
