School is out, it’s time to kickstart the summer school holidays! Start on a high note with Zip Zap’s latest production, Slapstick, a show that celebrates the origin of the comedy genre. It’s on from the 15 to the 22nd of December, 2021.
Slapstick is a show inspired by the 1930’s circus scene. It transports the audience to the swing and jazz era, when Charlie Chaplin ruled supreme. There’ll be plenty of classic slapstick techniques, from face-pie gimmicks through to exaggerated movements – the kids will especially love it.

Slapstick is also very physical theatre. It will leave you breathless at the incredible aerial displays and comedic acrobats. The acrobats have come through the Zip Zap Circus’ Zapper and Dare2Dream programmes, who also performed at the international tennis match held in Cape Town in 2020.
“Slap stick has a heavy emphasis on comedy dating back to the ‘30 s and ‘40 s, where this type of comedy has its roots,” says Brent van Rensburg, Zip Zap’s co-founder. “In this crazy time of covid we feel that everyone could use a good laugh or two. Also, this gives Zip Zap an opportunity to showcase our new up-and-coming performers.”

The famous Zip Zap dome will be transformed into a theatrical circus picnic site. You can bring blankets, lay them out and make yourselves comfortable during the show. Delectable savoury picnic boxes will be on sale with the tickets; each picnic box will cater for 1 person.

No tickets will be on sale at the venue. You can buy tickets on Quicket.
Doors open from 5pm, so picnic spaces are on a first-come, first-served basis
The event is cash-free and will be accepting credit/debit cards and SnapScan
