Get Your Local School To Help Keep Cape Town’s Beaches Clean
Do your part and help pick up plastic straws, cigarette butts, and other trash on our beaches
Greg Player is so passionate about keeping Cape Town’s beaches clean and pristine that he organises monthly beach clean-ups around Cape Town through his non-profit organisation, CleanC. You can join on Saturday, 1 February, and every first Saturday of the month thereafter.
PENCIL IT IN
Beach clean-ups take place at main beaches between Melkbos and Gordons Bay. The best way to keep up to date with events is to check them out on Facebook.
Most events start between 9am and 10am and last for 90 minutes. Bring along a bottle of water to stay hydrated. Once you arrive at the beach, you’ll see a volunteer when you look out for the blue-coloured Clean C banners. Facilities such as restrooms that are provided by the City are available for use during the events.
GET YOUR LOCAL SCHOOL INVOLVED
Beach Cleanup invites all schools to join at any time throughout the year. There is no registration process. So far Milnerton, Table View and Parklands High Schools have come on board. If you want your local school to get involved, too, simply contact the Cape Town Beach Cleanup on Facebook.
ATTENDING THE BEACH CLEAN-UP
Attending the beach clean-up is free. For further information, contact the organisers directly on Greg@cleanc.co.za or +27(0)82 873 1962.
