It is the Citizens who will go into this match with bragging rights, after beating the Urban Warriors 2 - 0 during their last encounter on 11 February 2017. Aubrey Ngoma gave Cape Town City the lead during the hour-mark, and things changed from bad to worse as Irwan Isaacs scored an own goal adding insult to injury. The support for the Cape Derby was phenomenal, with 10 000 people filling the seats inside Cape Town Stadium.

This will be Benni McCarthy's first Cape Derby as the head coach of Cape Town City, but the third for Ajax Cape Town's Stanley Menzo. This match promises to be bigger than the previous encounter between the two sides, but what's more certain - goals will be raining in from all angles.
