One hour of inspiration with environmentalist Kate Pallett
CreativeMornings was started in 2009 by famous NYC blogger Swissmiss (Tina Roth Eisenberg) to create an accessible, inspiring morning event for people to meet. Now, a few years down the line and the morning is hosted all over the world: in New York, Zürich, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, London, Berlin, Vancouver, Stockholm, Boston, Milan and Auckland.
Capetonian Catherine Henderson started the Mother City version of the talk, Creative Coffee Mornings, in May 2010, and successfully brings 100 creative people together each month to share ideas and discuss innovative projects.
Kate Pallett: Key Speaker for Friday, 31 May 2013
This month’s CreativeMornings speaker is Kate Pallett from Greenpop. Brought up on a farm in rural KwaZulu Natal, Kate is a social activist and environmentalist with an honours degree in social anthropology from the University of Cape Town. Her study focus was on finding a way to link environmental questions to human behavior, and her talk on Friday, 31 May will discuss how to creatively mobilise people for a cause. After graduation, Kate joined Greenpop, an environmental social enterprise championing urban rejuvenation by planting trees and making it fun and enjoyable for everyone to green up their neighbourhoods and schools.
About CreativeMornings Cape Town:
The event takes the form of a monthly breakfast lecture series, is free of charge and includes a 20-minute talk, plus coffee.
Meet and greet:
Everyone meets upstairs at the Friends of Design Academy for a complimentary coffee and breakfast.
It goes like this
- 8:30am – Arrive, grab a coffee and snacks. Get to know your fellow creatives.
- 9:00am – Listen to a 20-30 minute talk about a creative’s journey.
- 9:30am – Discuss, ask questions and mingle.
- 10.00am – Off to work, inspired.
