Accounting/ HR coordinator

Essential Responsibilities

Financial related activities:

  • Prepares month end financial statements, forecast and reports
  • Reviews balance sheet, profit, loss statements, and other reports to summarise and interpret current and projected financial position of organisation for managing director
  • Coordinates the accounting systems and accounting control procedures (monthly accounting, credit notes, journals)
  • Coordinates day to day finance (invoicing, payment of supplier invoices, scheduling debit batches, petty cash, etc.)
  • Manages and prepares payroll process
  • Assists in other daily projects as assigned by the managing director

HR related activities, including:

  • Involvement in administration relating to the recruitment and hiring of new employees
  • Preparation of offer letters and initiate background checks
  • Conduct new hire orientation and exit interviews
  • Coordinate evaluations with employees together with responsible manager
  • File and maintain confidential personnel and other HR records
  • Leave administration
  • Reporting/responding to workers’ compensation
  • Act as a liaison between managers and employee in employee related matters, including disciplinary matters, grievances, queries, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent
  • High attention to detail
  • Minimum three years' relevant work experience in accounting and human resources (this is not an entry level position)
  • Working knowledge of internal control procedures, general ledger, payroll and human resources
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google products, especially Excel and Google docs
  • Previous experience with accounting and HR software, Sage preferred
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

Responsibilities

Service the existing client base with excellence:

  • Manage and maintain the client base of CapeTownMagazine.com
  • Update and maintain client overview in the CRM system
  • Service and assist the clients' needs and questions
  • Set up client contracts and debit orders
  • Monitoring of existing partnerships and campaigns as well as reporting on performance for partners (eyeball reports)
  • Schedule yearly meetings with clients for the sales team
  • Assist with client briefs from the sales team to the editorial team

Support sales team:

  • Update sales infographics and partnership packages
  • Build sales funnels for specific projects of the sales team
  • Run specific sales and marketing project assigned by manager

Run specific client deliveries:

  • Run the giveaway process (sourcing, planning, design brief, run giveaway and after services)
  • Run wallpaper and mobile banner process (planning, design, daily operations)


Requirements:

  • Relevant business degree
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Minimum of two years of relevant work experience in client services

Junior Content Producer

CapeTownMagazine.com is looking for a strong, structured talented content producer for its online magazine, events section and social media channels.

Do you love creating content about a wide diversity of things to do in Cape Town? Do you have passion for writing content and connecting with people? Are you an absolute geek in your passion for spreading content created for online media, from websites, to newsletters and from Twitter to Facebook? Do you have an interest in how to connect it to SEO results? Do you have the ability to work on a number of different projects at the same time?

The ideal candidate will have a well developed interest in writing and online media or would have studied something related. Good knowledge of content creation and online writing is necessary, as is some experience in Photoshop. Knowledge of driving content through Twitter and Facebook is very recommendable.

Responsibilities

  • Curate exciting on-brand content for the Instagram channel, five days a week

  • Keep track of daily stats by update Instagram Google sheets and create reports for the weekly meetings.

  • Organise and manage the Weekend Takeover project, providing new candidates and keeping track of weekly features.

  • Come up with ideas to grow our Instagram channel

  • Working closely with the Social Media Manager to improve your skills and develop strategies and campaigns that can be prize winning

  • Monitor and assist on all social platforms in the absence of the Social Media Manager

Requirements

  • A diploma/degree in Media, Communications or Journalism

  • Strong working knowledge of Instagram, Facebook and Twitter

  • Fluent in English

  • An interest in photography, videography and social media

  • Reporting on performance for partners / clients

This is a full-time opportunity within a fast-paced, fast-growing independent online company that is outperforming corporate online media in both growth and social media.

The role

The successful applicant and will be responsible for driving the editorial voice of the magazine and ensuring that our content is high quality, exciting, sharable and resonant.

The main areas of responsibilities will be to:

  • together with the managing director, develop the strategic editorial direction of the magazine and its platforms (this includes all commercial and content marketing aspects) to grow the readership to 2 million readers per month.
  • guide, manage, inspire and oversee the editorial team to ensure all the day-to-day content on all our channels is of high quality. In essence you’re responsible for getting over 600,000 people per month excited about making discoveries in and around the Mother City and inspired to head out and take action.
  • contribute to the development of a new CapeTownMagazine.com and finding new innovative ways to present our content.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in journalism or communication or CV that tops this.
  • Proven track record of minimum two years of successfully managing an editorial team and collaborating with a marketing team in an online environment.
  • Minimum five years of online (editorial) experience
  • Extraordinary writing and editing skills with a good eye for detail
  • Analytic management and systems skills that match the writing skills
  • Sound knowledge of the online environment and content marketing
  • An understanding of Google Analytics, SEO and social media (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram, Pinterest & Linkedin) 
  • Advantageous: basic knowledge of Photoshop and basic multimedia and video editing skills
