Discover the trails and biodiversity of CapeNature reserves

Take a hike, marvel at the fauna and flora, or stay the night in a rustic chalet

Last updated: 11 September

CapeNature has announced free access to all of their reserves that are open to the public  between 16 and 22 September. Take a hike, marvel at the incredible fauna and flora, and even stay the night in a rustic chalet.

EXPLORE OUR BEAUTIFUL NATURAL HERITAGE
Anton Bredell, the minister of Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning in the Western Cape, has encouraged locals and visitors to make use of the opportunity to explore the unique heritage that belongs to all South Africans. “CapeNature’s reserves are places where people can go to regenerate and get in touch with nature following the long periods of lockdown over the past few months,” Bredell believes. “Go and explore our beautiful natural heritage.”

HIKING, BIKING, AND MORE
Explore the arid beauty of the Klein Karoo, the craggy coastline of the West Coast, or the verdant landscapes of the Garden Route at one of over 20 reserves dotted around the province. There are hiking and biking trails, and a wealth of flora and fauna to discover. CapeNature CEO Dr Razeena Omar says CapeNature has implemented all necessary health and safety protocols so that visitors will feel safe, and implores visitors to stick to the rules and continue to wear face masks.

MAKE A WEEKEND OF IT
All overnight stays for self-catering accommodation, camping, eco-venues and selected overnight hiking trails are open to the public. Usual rates apply to overnight stays. If you’re interested in making a booking you can do so online via capenature.co.za
