Watch Some Locally Made Theatrical Hilarity with The Visit at Alexander Bar and Theatre
No theatre buff in Cape Town would miss this!
The newest addition to the theatre line-up in Cape Town will see local talents like Jenny Stead and Euodia Samson take to the stage under the creative direction of local funny-man Brent Palmer. The Visit premieres at Alexander Bar and Theatre on Monday, 16 October and runs until Saturday, 28 October 2017 in a 12 day production-run.
The Visit chronicles the story of Luke, a nice guy, and his jealousies and insecurities. They manifest themselves rather badly when his best friend from university, Jacob, returns to his life having recently become a Hollywood A-lister. To make things worse, Luke’s wife Vanessa and Jacob used to be romantically involved. Sparks fly when this local cast tackles the complexities of romance and envy. Not only is Palmer a talented writer, but a trained actor and comedian as well. Having graced the stage at the Cape Town Comedy Club many-a-times, we cannot wait to see how his latest production will fare.
Brett Palmer, while being very famous for his comedic talents, is also an accomplished director. In 2005, he won a Fleur du Cap award for Best Direction in a play with Matthew Wilde called ‘Witnesses’. Palmer also wrote and starred in a production of ‘Bench’ with Adrian Collins. His script for ‘Bench’ was nominated for another Fleur du Cap Award. He has also directed some massive names in South African comedy; Nik Rabinowitz, Siv Ngesi, Gaetan Schmit and Stuart Taylor. Don’t miss this opportunity to see Palmer’s comedic genius and directive talent in action with The Visit. We cannot wait to see how Palmer and the talented cast bring this production to life.
The venue for The Visit is the inner-city hidden gem, The Alexander Bar, Cafe and Theatre. This intimate venue gives actors and patrons a much more personal feeling experience, and has hosted some big events in the past, including Tedx Cape Town and Naked Girls Reading.
