The Meeting Point on Strand Street

A traditional Swahili restaurant in Cape Town

Opened July 2016, The Meeting Point has been a watering hole for Tanzania expats who crave a good old fashioned home-style cooked meal. Situated on the busy Strand Street in the Cape Town city centre, you could easily rush past and not notice the vibrant music throughout the red and orange tinged eatery.

Going into the restaurant you are bound to find local Tanzanians, sitting and conversing in Swahili, while ordering some deliciously affordable meals that will make you fall deeply in love with Tanzanian food because of the authentic flavours and texture of every meal. You need to be careful though - you might want to eat here every day, which is understandable because the food is just so yummy!

We suggest you order the Maharagwe, which is red and green beans served with rice and kisamvu (a traditional Tanzanian side dish) adding extra flavour to your dish. This option might not be immensely appealing to you because it is a veggie option – but don’t you fret, there are numerous meaty dishes that you are sure to absolutely love.

We love the beautifully vibrant Tanzanian music playing whilst you enjoy your meal.

Tip: The staff are incredibly friendly- if you are unsure on what is what, they will give you great suggestions.

NOTE: Only street parking is available.
