After a 16-year-long wait, Bafana Bafana are finally back at the FIFA World Cup – and yes, the 2010 nostalgia is very much alive. We know your couch is comfy, but watching soccer from home just isn't the same. From the Northern to the Southern Suburbs to the middle of the city centre, here are 10 spots screening the remaining World Cup matches. Prepare for big screens, food & drink specials, and maybe even a few vuvuzelas!

HOMETOWN GLORY

Mitchells Plain has an extra reason to celebrate this World Cup. Local Iqraam Rayners, who was born and raised in the area, is representing South Africa on the sport’s biggest stage, giving the community someone special to cheer for. What better place to do that than at Premium Sports Bar in Westridge? With a big screen, seven TVs throughout the venue, and even a photo booth featuring a replica World Cup trophy, this popular match-day gathering spot is the perfect place to back both Bafana Bafana and one of Mitchells Plain's own.

Hours: Monday to Saturday, 9am - 11pm; Sunday, 11am -11pm
Specials: 2x 500ml Black Label Draughts for R70. For SA vs Czechia: Buy 1kg ribs & chips for R240 and get an extra 500g ribs for free (5pm - 8pm). After the game, stay for Thursday Night Karaoke!

A FINAL-WORTHY VIEWING PARTY

This four-in-one nightlife destination is so committed to this year's World Cup that they’re opening specially on Sunday, 19 July for the final! Harrington Street in District Six will screen all remaining Bafana Bafana fixtures across their various different venues whenever they fall within trading hours, as well as quarter-finals, semi-finals and other must-watch clashes. Keep an eye on their Instagram for match-day updates and themed drink specials, like the cheeky Brandy & Coke and Margarita deals they ran for South Africa's opening game against Mexico. A TASTE OF GERMANY IN GREEN POINT

First opened in Germany, Café Extrablatt has since established itself as one of Green Point’s liveliest sports spots when there’s a big game on. Downstairs is ideal for families and a more relaxed meal, while the upstairs shisha lounge and bar is where things get lively There’s plenty to choose from on the menu, with familiar comfort food sitting alongside German dishes. If it's award-winning beer and good vibes you're after, you've come to the right place. Expect a giant 2.5m x 4m screen, four alternative TVs, and craft beer on tap at Woodstock Brewery’s beerhall. As far as food goes, there’s plenty of easy-going options like brisket, burgers, chicken schnitzel and more. You bring the gees – they’ll handle the rest.

PLAY A MATCH WHILE WAITING FOR KICK-OFF

How about a friendly game of soccer followed by cheering on your team on the big screen? At Arena X in Milnerton, you can do it all under one roof, thanks to 6000 square metres of indoor courts – for soccer, netball, cricket, basketball, and more. Afterwards, head to the bar area and catch the World Cup on the projector or one of three flat-screen TVs, surrounded by the flags of nations competing in this year's tournament. The action doesn't stop there, with table tennis, pool and darts helping to keep the competitive spirit alive. Perfect for kids, adults and anyone still convinced they could've made the Bafana squad.

10 SCREENS (AND NOT ONE BAD SEAT)

Football fans are in good hands at Bistro 74 in Mowbray. This spot has built a reputation as a go-to for club soccer throughout the year, and the World Cup dials the stakes up to 11. Matches kicking off up to 10pm will be screened across 10 TVs positioned throughout the venue, ensuring there's not a bad seat to be found. While commentary will depend on the atmosphere, expect the volume to be turned up for Bafana Bafana fixtures and the tournament's biggest knockout clashes.

Located in Gugulethu – right where the legendary Mzoli's used to be – Teez Lounge is where many are choosing to watch the World Cup in style. This lounge-and-butchery combination serves up a winning mix of shisanyama and shisha. Add live DJs, a buzzing crowd and an unbeatable township atmosphere, and you've got all the ingredients for a memorable game-day experience.

CALLING ALL RONALDO FANS

Whether you're supporting South Africa or following Cristiano Ronaldo's latest World Cup campaign, this Portuguese pub in De Waterkant has you covered. Vasco Da Gama Taverna offers a cosy upstairs bar area, while downstairs you'll find 15 TV screens showing all the action, plus Castle's finest tank beer on tap. Come for the football, stay for the Portuguese feast.

A SOUTHERN SUBURBS CLASSIC

Nestled in the heart of Newlands, this much-loved pub and restaurant is a sports fanatics’ haven. Foresters Arms, or “Forries” as it is affectionately known by its regulars, has long been a go-to for game day, whether it's Bafana Bafana or the Springboks. With television screens both inside and outside, you can catch every World Cup moment while enjoying an extensive range of drinks and classic pub fare. Few places do big-match atmosphere quite like this Southern Suburbs staple.

BIG SCREENS, BIGGER CROWDS

If your World Cup watch party can never agree on where to eat, Mojo Market solves that problem. With dozens of food stalls serving everything from burgers and pizza to tacos and sushi, there's something for every fan. This vibey Sea Point venue also boasts multiple bars under the same roof, and big screens both upstairs and downstairs, making it easy to catch every moment of the action. Expect a lively atmosphere and plenty of fellow supporters, as Mojo is one of the city's biggest gathering spots for this World Cup.
