Simple South African street food classics like vetkoek and Stoney
Happy Boy Cáfe, in one of Cape Town’s most lively districts, Observatory, is for everyone – from students and artists to business owners.

I mean who doesn't love fresh vetkoek and cold, Stoney ginger beer. For all the real Slim Shadys, there’s an Eminem Tartine (mushroom, mint, peas and lemon zest on toast). Or crispy wedges with a shot of tequila...who said potatoes were boring?
Fresh vetkoek and ice cold Stoney ginger beer...and let's not forget thosr crisy potato wedges. Image: Happy Boy Café
Happy Boy, with its neon-purple sign, fits right in in Observatory, with its street art, funky bars and thrift shops. It’s a place for all to unwind at the bar, disconnect from the screen and connect with people over classic South African street foods.
