Weekend market that has it all

Craft beer, kids playpark, aqua golf, target shooting, donkeys and more

Spend a family-fun and activity-filled day at The Purple Windmill. Listen to local artists or watch live sports while enjoying pizza and beer on tap. Let the kids run wild in the playpark, or hit golf balls into a dam and practice target shooting. Pop into the Plaamol Market for handmade, curated goods. Plus, meet Dunkin, Dixie and Daisy, the resident donkeys.

At The Purple Windmill, near Stellenbosch, you can eat pizza and drink beer on tap, watch live sports, listen to local musicians or buy curated, handmade goods. Plus the kids have plenty of exciting play options and will meet, Dunkin, Dixie and Daisy, the three adorable donkeys.

LISTEN TO LIVE MUSIC UNDER THE CANOPY

There are numerous amenities at The Purple Windmill, from a wedding hall to a nursery. Spend an afternoon relaxing on the Reservoir Restaurant's terrace,  lounge picnic-style on the spacious lawns in front of the dam overlooking vineyards or on wooden benches under stretch canvas, where you can listen to local musicians or watch live sports.

The extensive space and amenities (fully stocked bar and restaurant) allows for the hosting of team-building events and corporate breakaways, year-end functions, birthday parties, and there’s even a wedding venue at The Cellar Wedding and Function Hall.

HIT GOLF BALLS INTO A DAM AND SHOOT SPOONS

Rent a club and golf balls (you can buy a bucket of 25 or 50 balls) and practise your swing on the driving range. It overlooks the dam (the goal is to hit the balls into it). Or go target-shooting by the haystacks. Choose from 3 types of rifles and take your shot at metal spoons hanging on crates.

There are a variety of areas to sit back, relax and enjoy the vibey market and mountain views. Image: The Purple Windmill

LET THE KIDS HAVE FUN IN THE PLAY PARK

The Play Park is a kids’ indoor play area that will keep the little ones entertained for hours, leaving you free to enjoy the market. They can jump, hop, climb and bounce about on the different amenities. There are trampolines, slides, jungle gyms, tunnels and much more. You can also book kids birthday parties, with 5 different party packages to choose from. All you need to do is show up, the set up is taken care of.
