Fruit, veg and flower picking is a bucket-list activity in Cape Town: You get to spend time outdoors, it’s budget-friendly, and it’s a great way to explore outside of the city. Visit Elgin for an orchard tour, pick strawberries and look at giant scarecrows, or create your own flower arrangements in Stellenbosch.

GO WINE TASTING AFTER YOUR PICKING

There’s a bistro and deli on site for if you get peckish after a few hours in the sun, as well as a tasting room for the wine-lovers.

When to pick: November (apricots) and December (peaches)
Opening hours: Monday to Sunday, 8am - 4pm
Cost: R10 per kg (peaches) and R9 per kg (apricots)
