“Thick thighs” should not be stopping you from whipping out a cozzie and dipping into the water this summer. This what Differently Beautiful, a women’s empowerment initiative, believes, and so it's creating a space where women of all shapes and sizes can feel comfortable in their skin – and costumes.
As part of the EmpowerHer19 events campaign, the organisation is hosting the PHATT (Pool Honeys and Thick Thighs) Pool Party on Saturday, 30 November.
DARE TO BE YOU-NIQUE. PUT ON THAT BIKINI
If you've ever felt self-conscious at the beach or a pool party, then Differently Beautiful has exactly what you need: a poolside fiesta that's also a no-judgement zone. At the PHATT pool party, women can dance, lounge, swim, take selfies and have a ball without fear of body/fat-shaming.
The purpose of the party is to create a platform for women, no matter their shape and size, to feel comfortable enough to express themselves. The organisers encourage anyone who's been the victim of body-shaming to attend, as well as those who’ve bullied others because of how they look. The goal is to cultivate understanding and acceptance for all.
BESIDES THE POOL, THERE’LL BE BURGERS
Fun in the sun aside, the PHATT pool party will also launch Rack n' Grill and Differently Beautiful's new burger collaboration, the PHATT burger. Rub elbows with plus-size bloggers, plus-size motivators and other curvy females. All you have to bring is a swimsuit and a towel, as well as some money to spend at the cash bar. VIP tickets and table bookings are available.
Please note ladies: Due to an increase in male support, men are permitted to attend the event. The organisers would like to encourage further participation.
