New Five Star Hyatt Regency at Oubaai in Herold's Bay

The five star hotel and resort to open early 2010

Hyatt Regency Oubaai is a 5 star luxury hotel worth nearly R1-billion being built at the Oubaai golf resort in Herold's Bay near George, overlooking the warm Indian Ocean.

The addition of the Hyatt
Regency Oubaai will be the first international first class, five star hotel chain on the Garden Route. The Hyatt Regency hotel will consist of 100 spacious five star guest rooms and suites.

Building of the new hotel started in August 2007, construction will be completed during the 4th quarter of 2009 and the hotel's doors will open in early 2010.

This new 5 star hotel and resort on the Garden Route will be Hyatt’s second hotel in South Africa following the Hyatt Regency Johannesburg, which opened in 1995. Global Hyatt has more than 750 hotels and resorts in over 45 countries.

Hyatt Regency will form part of the Oubaai Golf and Lifestyle Centre which is an up market residential and golf development that includes Ernie Els‘s first 18-hole championship golf course in South Africa, a golf academy and a lifestyle centre.

Both the golf course and
the lifestyle centre have been completed and are in operation. Facilities of the Hotel will be available to the residents on the estate but certain areas would be reserved for exclusive hotel guest use.

The Oubaai golf resort is
located five minutes from the George Airport and makes an ideal venue for a soccer team base camp.

Mohamed Fahmy, managing director of MAK Hotel Holdings – part of the MA Kharafi group – said: “We are confident that the global travellers coming to South Africa in 2010 will be able to experience a one-of-a-kind African getaway with the availability of first-class leisure facilities.”

The Hyatt Regency Oubaai hotel includes:

- 200 seat convention centre
- Health spa
- 3000m² Shopping complex
- A regency club
- All day dining
- Pool and pool bar
- Speciality pub
- Exclusive Spa
- Conference centre
