SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN

Duration: 6 months, with the chance for a permanent position.Pays a stipend

We are looking for: A social media savvy young person who is organised, eager to learn and wants to start a career at CapeTownMagazine.com. You love digital content, creating it and making it resonate with various audiences, and have good English copy writing skills. We're looking for someone who is steeped in Cape Town culture, and loves to explore the province. 

You should apply if: Live on instagram and TikTok. Always been bothered by the fact that feeds about Cape Town focus too much on Camps Bay and too little about Khayelitsha and other suburbs. You are looking to embark on a permanent position at CapeTownmagazine.com. You will be working under the guidance of seniors and produce content that will be posted to 193 000 followers, and that’s only on Instagram. It’s the perfect opportunity to help you start a career in digital media and marketing for multiple audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Create and schedule social media posts to curate our feeds
  • Community management
  • Take part in brainstorming sessions
  • Pitch new ideas (what we call discoveries)
  • Support to the content and business team
  • Produce content (from events to features)
  • Assist with feedback reports (capturing stats)
  • Source photos and videos and edit it using image editing software
  • Learn and master our content management and production systems
  • Go on experiences
  • Share your creative ideas on brand and partner projects and campaigns

EDITORIAL/CONTENT CREATOR INTERN 

Duration: 6 months, with the chance for a permanent position. Pays a stipend

We are looking for: A hardworking and go-getting content producer with a spirit of discovery. The editorial intern will help our team in crafting content, working with social media, collating overviews and will lend a logistical hand around the office. The ideal candidate has a passion for digital media, is a gifted storyteller, works well under pressure and loves to learn and grow. The editorial intern will contribute to all our content sections, will conduct research, do interviews and experience, source images to create winning content. 

You should apply if: You love making new discoveries around the province, and are wanting to grow and are forever learning. This is a six-month internship in which you will gain some valuable insight into digital media and marketing, under the guidance of our experienced team, with bucket list experiences galore. We love nurturing talent and are building a rockstar team, and if you are fit with our company culture, it will evolve into a permanent position

MANAGING EDITOR TO LEAD CREATIVES

Duration: Permanent

Level: Med-Senior

Remuneration: Negotiable, based on experience

We are looking for: A driven, tough and compassionate person who loves and/or is experienced in building teams to lead a fast-paced forever learning and growing creative team, executing across content and business projects. You will be the key creative and organizing force and key lead in our storytelling for our many audiences, brands and partners. 

You will lead the content team on day-to-day operations and lead for our Partner Impact Programme, created to help the province’s most special and unique businesses succeed. Driving, signing off and generating and inspiring story ideas; co-planning, assigning and editing content; overseeing spending; commissioning stories and art, from design to wallpapers and banners across the departments. You will write key partner content, monitor and/or edit social media posts and activations created by the team. 

You should apply if: You are a teambuilder (leader or budding leader). A project manager. You are an editor (mid-senior) with digital writing chops, and stats and results-driven. You want to get out of your comfort zone and be challenged. You want to create an impact on this province and country and change the lives of young people while at it. Can balance a take-no-shit attitude with nurturing talent. Have the stamina to create change and see it through to make a name for yourself. You are steeped in real Cape Town culture and know that Cape Town is way more interesting than just Camps Bay because you have been there.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience editing
  • Minimum 3 years experience managing teams
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Google analytics
  • Experience on Monday.com, Hubspot or other CRMs, Google analytics beneficial
