Hard rock fans are in for a (head) banging time with Metallica taking to the stage at the Bellville Velodrome on Wednesday, 24 and Thursday, 25 April 2013 as part of their South African tour (note: the venue changed from the Cape Town Stadium, and thereby, an extra show was added).
This will be the band’s second visit to the country in seven years and their first stop is the Mother City for a whopping two shows; after which, they’ll be heading to Johannesburg to perform at the Soccer City Complex, FNB Stadium.
Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo, collectively known as Metallica, are one of the most influential and commercially successful rock bands in history, having sold 110 million albums worldwide and played to millions of fans across the globe.
They have scored almost a dozen multi-platinum albums, including 1991’s best-selling ‘Metallica’ (commonly referred to as ‘The Black Album’). In October 2008, their latest album, ‘Death Magnetic’, debuted at number one on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart and in 27 additional countries around the world.
Metallica have garnered numerous accolades, including nine Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, and multiple MTV Video Music Awards. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009. In December 2011, they celebrated their 30th anniversary and unveiled a brand new stage that featured iconic elements that spanned their career.
Brought to you by Big Concerts Experience and 5FM, Metallica live in South Africa promises to be the moshpit experience of a lifetime for die-hard fans.
