Lift Airline: it's reasonable + has good perks

For school holidays, kids fly half-price

From now until 30 June kids between 2 - 12 years old can fly for half-price, just in time for the school holidays. You can book your tickets between 7 - 30 June and catch your flight anytime between 7 June and 28 February 2022. 

The discount applies automatically when you check out and will be 50% off the base fare price for selected flights when you book Lift online.   

DON’T STRESS THE CANCELLATION AND CHANGE FEES

Lift Airline, South Africa’s newest domestic airline which launched in December 2020 came into the market with the promise of flexible flying. That means with Lift you can change your flight as many times as you need. As long as you've made your changes 24 hours in advance, the airline won't charge you additional fees or penalties. This includes changing traveller names and other details at no charge.

You can also change your flight one hour before departure with an amendment fee of R250 per person. If the cost of your new ticket is higher you can simply pay the difference and if there is an excess cost you can add it into your Lift Wallet as credit to use another time.

FLY IN A CONSUMER-FOCUSED AIRPLANE

Lift is founded by Gidon Novick (Kulula.com founder and former Comair CEO) and Jonathan Ayache (ex-Uber executive), and describe the airline as  “consumer-obsessed”.So obsessed, they let the public choose the name of their new airline in the country’s largest naming competition in September 2020. Over 25 000 entries came in, but people won. The eight winners shared the prize of a year's worth of free flights, and they got their names inscribed on the first Lift plane that took to the air on 10 December 2020.
